A New Home Office

This is such a wonderfully talented group of artists and I am happy to write about them here. And I hope you will enjoy reading about my favorite finds. Now on to the post….

We are planning to move in the next few weeks into a much larger house. A house where I will get my very own office. Of course I’ll need to decorate it with inspiring, hand crafted pieces. I found a wonderful assortment of items for my new home office. I’m sure these will give you ideas to brighten up yours as well.

Every office I know of has a bulletin board. Why not use these fun little push pins from Funky Chicken Design instead of those boring, traditional, plastic ones.

I love the idea of keeping a garden in my office. This terrarium from Lady Farrah is a perfect, low-maintenance way to bring a little green into your office.

A special coffee mug is a must have to hold your hot cup of tea, coffee or cocoa. This mug from Gina DeSantis caught my eye. I love how the pink peeks out at the bottom. And it appears to be the perfect shape to wrap my hands around and warm them up on cold winter days.

If you have kids, you have an endless supply of priceless art to hang on your walls. The uninhibited creativity of my kids is always a source of inspiration for me. And a frame from Second Line Frames would make their work seem even more inspiring. I love that these frames are made from wood salvaged from Hurricane Katrina - a reminder that beautiful things can be found in unexpected places.

And this stoneware tumbler from Fehu Stoneware would make a beautiful new house for my pens and pencils.

When decorating your home office, remember to keep it simple, uncluttered and have it reflect an energy that best suits the type of work you‘ll be doing in your space. Find ways to use everyday items in unusual ways. And most importantly, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a great work space. A few well-chosen accent pieces can really make your space pop and add new life to old space.

Nice finds.
I find that I always feel the need to edit my desk, in order for me to have enough clarity to work well and efficiently. Just like the kitchen table, we want it clean and dressed and welcoming and all.

Fun choices. Your office needs to be organized, but also can be a source of inspiration, and maybe a little meditation. ;)

Nice finds and great advice! Having been an Interior Designer for over 13 years I totally agree that you don't have to spend outrageous amounts of money for style and function.

Wishing you happiness, love and much success in your new home and office.

The tumbler reminds me of a little handmade pottery dish I use for paperclips in my home office! It's really nice to balance out all the high tech with some handmade touches.
