Inspired by 25 years

You know what amazes me about the team of artists and designers on the DesignStyleGuide team? You can choose any theme and find fantastic items to decorate around that theme!

This week, I'm inspired by my silver anniversary. In just a few days, my husband and I will have been married 25 years and it's all I can think about. So I went searching for items that would be meaningful to us and our life together. Sure enough, I came up with some fantastic finds!

Above, is a painting by Debra Linker (click each picture to see the listing on Etsy) Tulips have always been my favorite flower, we had tulips in our wedding, and my Sweetie has often brought me tulips to surprise me with a gift of love.

My husband has always loved gardenias, and it was his request to have gardenias in our wedding. I had three in my bouquet and he had one in his lapel. The funny thing was, when we got into the car to drive off, we had to stop and put my bouquet in the trunk because the gardenia smell was so overwhelming! I will never see or smell gardenias without thinking of my lifetime love.

Six weeks after our wedding, we had a wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii. We stayed on Kauai and hope to go back this year. So I knew I had to include a painting from Kauaiartist! But this painting of a pekoke flower is especially meaningful. The smell is like no other - and the first day we were in Honolulu, we were walking down the street and someone stopped me with a pekoke flower and asked if I was married or single. I was so proud to answer "married" and they pinned the flower in my hair on the side that represents "taken". I also got a pekoke lei - and though they don't last long, they smell fantastic!!!

I had to include these lovely roses from NestaHome! Yellow roses represent "friends forever" and my Sweetie is my best friend - and will be forever!

(c) Nonnie60

I've admired this rosewood box from Nonnie60 for a long time. I chose it because it represents our current life - we have dogwoods decorating our living room, live where the dogwoods bloom every spring, and we have a huge garden of roses - thus have named our home "Rosewoodhollow"

See... pick a theme, any theme! Search "designstyleguide" on Etsy and you'll come up with fantastic items for any home decor!
