The UnExpected - Ceilings

While searching the interiordesignteam tag on Etsy to find this month's topic - I found something with which it was instant love. I mean really - love.

The Marine Large Kinetic Mobile
by pukapuka

This mobile is so spectacular in so many ways. Which made me think about how important the ceiling is when designing. In a room design, considering all the space is essential to making a cohesive look. Drawing the eye up will give a sense of a larger room by bringing the space above eye-level into the rest of the design. So why do we sometimes only get as high as an art piece on the wall? These handmade items can change all that.

Black and White Crinkle Pendant Light
by MariposaAvenue

This can bring a modern appeal to a minimalist room. Consider hanging several in a grouping of various heights in the center of the ceiling.

No Polka Dot Here Wall Tattoo
by Stickyculture

Available in a a variety of colors, these decals would be interesting as a modern take on a border. Placed along the top of the wall as a grouping or running all around the top of the room.

Ocean - Stained Glass Bunting
by PamelaAngus

What a wonderful way to bring color and light into a room. This would make a great take on valances at the tops of the windows.

I LOVE that stained glass bunting!
I used to make fabric bunting - and dabbled with wooden flags but I haven't seen this idea before - it really works.

These are wonderful ideas for decorating those untapped areas! And so much to choose from, mobiles to decals to stained glass. I love the mobile.
